Legal Aid

Legal Aid is public funding sometimes given to people who can't afford the full cost of legal proceedings.

Can I get Legal Aid?

Normally we can only offer you legal aid if you live in Herefordshire, South Shropshire, West Worcestershire, Powys and Monmouthshire.

  • If you receive Income Support, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance or Guarantee Pension credit you will not need to be income assessed, however capital limits apply.
  • You will need to be assessed if you are:

-unemployed and receiving other benefits
-receiving working families tax credit
-employed (full- or part-time)
-self-employed (sole trader, partnership etc.)
-director of a company

For more information visit the Community Legal Service website

We can help you find out whether you can get legal aid and guide you from there.
